May 5 – Ride Along The River-10am – 2pm  FREE EVENT Register here 14.3 Mile bicycle ride through River Rouge, Delray, Southwest Detroit and Ecorse, beginning and ending at Memorial Park in River Rouge, with stops at Historic Fort Wayne, General George S. Patton Recreation Center, Historic Woodmere Cemetery, the Fort Rouge Gateway (FRoG) Park and Kemeny Park. Meet Here –Memorial Park River Rouge 11051 W Jefferson Ave, River Rouge, Michigan 48218


Optional: May 12 Cycle Into Spring  9am– Enjoy a pleasant pedal from the Detroit River to Eight Mile and back along the Conner Creek Greenway (CCG), nine miles of cycling infrastructure that traces the original Conner Creek and links people, parks, green spaces, neighborhoods, schools and shops. Eight miles are complete and the funds raised at Cycle into Spring will support programming and the development of the final miles of the greenway. The 20-mile ride will begin at 9 a.m. and is police-escorted as well as sweeper and SAG-supported. Sites along the way include Coleman A. Young International Airport, Mt. Olivet Cemetery, the Chrysler Jefferson North Assembly Plant and Chandler Park.A t-shirt is included with all pre-registration; size not guaranteed after May 1st. Refreshments provided at rest stop.

May 28 Memorial Day 10:00am-4:00pm 9th Annual Pedal Paddle Picnic Stony Creek -Winter Cove Picnic Area (eastern edge) You can bike, eat, and kayak as much as you like, or you can bike and eat (skip the kayaking), or kayak and eat (skip the biking), or you could be ever so casual and just join us for lunch. 10 AM bike or bike or kayak. Other Info: Helmets and PFDs are required. Day or annual metropark pass required. Inexpensive kayak rentals are available. Renters will need to paddle over to the picnic area to meet up with all the other paddlers.

TBD ?? June 23 The Front Porch Ride – Noon to 5pm A Day of music on the porches of Ferndale residents! Meet in the parking lot in back of Affirmations at 11:45.  I’m not sure what this is except some people might be performing music on their front porches, other might be playing music.  It sounds like a lot of fun and on bikes, we could check it out and grab some lunch after. Let’s check it out!

July 4  Wednesday  Pelee Island Ride –Voted best ride 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016!  More info Here! Ride includes 90 minute ferry ride to the island and lunch. Plus a visit to Pelee Island winery. Allow at least an hour driving time to get to the boat. If you’re taking your car across, please make reservations well in advance. No need to make reservations for bikes. Most of  us just take the bikes. Ferry Boat Leaves Promptly at 10am! Meet at – Leamington Terminal 500 Erie Street, Leamington, Ontario, N8H 3E5

Three Parks July 15- Sunday 11am– From I-94 exit 192 Haggerty Rd. and go south. Haggerty becomes S. Metro Pkwy, dead ends in park. Meet at 2nd lot on right about 1 .5 miles into park – Tulip Tree picnic area. Lunch stop at McNasty’s (good burgers and beers)in New Boston! You can choose to ride between 5 and 30 miles your choice, as it’s a straight shot out and back. Helmets and Park Passes Required. If you make it the full distance, there’s a nice nature center at the halfway point.  Parks include, Lower Huron, Willow and Oakwood,  all connected by paved bike trails. Rolling hills and winding trails along the river make this one of our favorite bike rides.

Paint Creek Trail – Sunday July 29 at 4pm   Rochester Mills Beer Company, 400 Water St, Rochester, MI 48307. We can catch the trail from this parking lot. Rochester Road to 4th street and turn right (east). You will see the restaurant. They let us park there. We’ll ride into Lake Orion and catch the cider mill on the way back. It’s open all year! Dinner after at the Rochester Brewery. Really good menu, lots of healthy choices!


August 11 Harsens Island Ride -11am!  Meet at 2600 Pointe Tremble Road, Algonac, MI There is a Kroger Grocery store there where we park and meet to ride to the ferry that take us to the Island.  This is a favorite ride and we have a meal on the way back at the Sans Souci Bar right on the water.  The bike ride takes us out to the point where we stop for photos and the view before we head back.  Nice! From I-94 exit to Marine City Highway (26 Mile road) turn right. Maybe 5 miles turn right on Palms Road then turn left on M-29 and follow the lake for a few more miles, pass the ferry and go to the grocery store parking lot about a quarter mile past the ferry. 


August 19 Grosse Ile 10am Meet up at Grosse Ile High School, 7800 Grays Dr, Grosse Ile, MI 48138– on the island –Visit the Alpacas! Lunch at Bishop’s Cottage!  You will Love it!

Monday Labor Day September  3- 10th annual Watermelon Water Wheel Waddle-Hike, Bike, Kayak and Picnic the day away. Meet at the Boat Rental area at Kensington Metro Park. There is only one rental area!  We will be there all day between 8am-5pm.

September 15- Tour de troit – Register Here The 16th Annual Tour de Troit, presented by Flagstar Bank and set for September 16, 2017, is a bike ride that explores some of the city’s historic areas, takes in many of its most breathtaking sights, and provides bicyclists a unique opportunity to legally “take over” the streets of Motown.  $45 until April 30 then the price goes up!


Optional Rides

April 28 – Howards Ride – Family and friends with help from Friends of The Pere Marquette Rail Trail and local sponsors will again be putting on a family friendly bicycle ride of up to 62 miles (metric century) to honor the wishes of Howard Schoenherr, known by many as “Putter”. Affirmations Ride TBD– Meet in back of Affirmations – We’ll ride through the subdivisions of Ferndale, Huntington Woods and Royal Oak. 16 Mile flat ride, lunch at the end in local Ferndale restaurant.

October TBD Sunday-Cemetery Tour10:00am Meet in back of Affirmations. We’ll ride through Palmer Park and Ferndale and have lunch at a local restaurant in Ferndale. Flat ride, less than 15 miles, moderate pace. 10-12mph tops. Scenic ride! Costumes optional.


Southfield to Royal Oak & Back Ride-Meet at Civic Center on Evergreen-Lunch in Royal Oak

Macomb Orchard Trail  (MOT) (At Onyx 52999 Dequindre Road Rochester, MI 48307) 9am for a long ride to Richmond and back (23.5 miles one way)…of course people can always turn back earlier to make it shorter. Cider mill and lunch included!

Metro Beach Ride – Metro Beach Metropark. Follow 16 Mile (Metro Parkway) until it ends at Lake St. Clair. Enter the park and meet in parking lot by nature center. Helmets and park sticker required. Metro Beach, 31300 Metro Parkway, Mt. Clemens, MI 48046 Spend the day biking at Metro Beach Metropark along a three-mile paved hike-bike trail offering panoramic views of Lake St. Clair. Cycle along flat terrain past grassy areas and along the 1,600 foot boardwalk, stopping at the gazebo to take in the beautiful view at Huron Point. Near the park entrance, the path connects to a trail along Metro Parkway for easy access to local suburbs.

 Huron Valley Rail Trail (10.5 mi)…McHattie park meetup in South Lyon off Warren Street. This is a flat asphalt rail trail starting from the west in South Lyon. There is a fork in the trail about 6 miles in that veers off along I-96 for those who want to add on a few miles. Meetup in McHattie Park – fyi … there is a restroom here. Free parking. To get there: Take 96 to exit 159 Wixom Road. Follow south until 10 mile (about 2.5 miles). Turn right (west) and head to S Warren Street which is just past Pontiac Trail/S Lafayette Street/downtown South Lyon. You will turn left (it is a neighborhood road just 2 streets past Pontiac Trail/Lafayette). Warren Street ends in McHattie park. There is only one parking lot and a playground so it should be easy to find us. There is a tavern or an A & W type restaurant near the park for those who want to stay and grab lunch afterwards.

Ann Arbor Ride – B2B Trail – Bandemere Park to EMU. This is a beautiful ride. We get to see a lot of nature, plus some of the UM and EMU sights! We’ll grab lunch at a local A2 spot on the way back! 20 miles, flat easy ride.We’ll meet at Bandemere Park in Ann Arbor.  To get here: From downtown Ann Arbor: Take Main St. North and merge onto M-14. Stay in right lane and get off immediately at Barton

 Belle Isle – Meet at the fountain –

Detroit Ride –  The City ride starts at the Eastern Market at 10 AM at the parking lot across the street from Russell Street Deli, 2465 Russell Street, Detroit, where we can easily leave our cars. We’ll go from there to the Dequindre Cut Greenway, Milliken State Park, River Walk and into Mexican town.From there, we’ll end up on West Grand Blvd, on to the Fisher Building and then down Second into WSU campus, Cass Ave, past the Avalon Bakery. Lunch is at ?  TBD, then we’ll head back to the Eastern Market. Approx length of the ride is 20 miles. This is a street ride so remember to bring your helmet.
