Yak Womyn Paddle Group

| April 18, 2017
4/30 – Kent Lake to Kensington/Island Lake Recreation Center – Brighton 1:00pm  Please RSVP – See Below!

Yak Womyn is a paddle group – kayaks, canoes or whatever floats – for women in the Greater Ann Arbor area and beyond-  who own their own boats.  We mainly paddle the watersheds known as Brighton, Huron, Irish Hills, Jackson, Pinckney and Waterloo Recreation Areas which are conveniently located off of I-94 and I-23.  We go out mostly on Sundays, paddling 2-3 hours. We often picnic after.  Yak season is usually April thru October.
We yak mostly in State Parks so an Annual Pass is a good investment. While you don’t have to wear a life vest, it is State Law that you must have it in your boat. Inclement weather cancels; temps above 90,  below 50 or high winds.  Please RSVP by Sunday 10AM with your phone number.  At that time I decide if the event is a go.
If you do not RSVP, you run the risk of showing up at an event that has been canceled due to no RSVPS.  This is a substance free event.  No release form required so you paddle at your own risk.  I am identified by my GMC burgundy cargo van.  Hope to see you on the water . . . As you may know-  the last few years I’ve been involved in the care of my elderly father and haven’t be able to be consistent with the group.  He passed recently so I am free to paddle with you all again.  April 30th is Opening Day!  However, I jumped the gun and went in February on that beautiful, sunny, almost 70 degree day.  Opening Day is usually on Earth Day but I have plans this year . . .
This Sunday, April 30th at 1PM, we will celebrate the rebirth of Spring by exploring beautiful, island filled Kensington Lake via Kent Lake/Island Lake Recreation Area at 12950 Grand River Road  Brighton, MI 48116 (810) 229-7067.  Kent Lake does have a swimming beach.  You will need a state park pass.  Plenty of parking but the parking lot is far from the beach so we will have to carry our kayaks from the parking lot to the beach.  Bring a dish to pass,  your own drinks and a chair for a picnic after.   Utensils and paper ware provided.
Please RSVP to Sandya WITH YOUR PHONE NUMBER to  sapphosis@yahoo.com.
